Typical Applications & Industry Use Cases

The EMD-32 is a multi-spring, external-mount PTFE (Teflon) bellows mechanical seal designed for aggressive, corrosive, or chemically challenging fluid services. Its bellows construction eliminates sliding elastomers and provides high chemical resistance, making it ideal for equipment handling corrosive media where standard elastomeric seals fail.

Industries Served

Chemical & Petrochemical

Chemical processing

strong acids, alkalis, corrosive solvents, and reactive media.

Petrochemical & refining

Petrochemical and refinery

solvent circulation, corrosive hydrocarbons, chemical feed systems.

Pharmaceutical, biotech, and specialty chemicals

applications requiring chemically inert wetted surfaces.

Water & wastewater treatment

Water and wastewater treatment

corrosive cleaning agents, chemical dosing, and aggressive effluents.

Equipment & Use-Case Scenarios

Why It Fits These Applications

Installation Guidelines

1.

Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly — shaft, seal chamber, and gland face must be free of corrosion or scoring.

2.

Install the EMD-32 carefully to avoid twisting or deforming the PTFE bellows.

3.

Ensure the bellows sits relaxed (not stretched or compressed) when the gland is tightened.

4.

Confirm all process conditions — chemical compatibility, temperature, and pressure — are within the seal’s ratings.

5.

Perform a slow, controlled startup and examine for leaks or abnormal face contact before full operation.
