RBT-11 Rubber Bellows – Long-Lasting Flexible Mechanical Seal
RBT-11 Rubber Bellows – Long-Lasting Flexible Mechanical Seal
Overview
HydroMax Seal RBT-11 | Rubber Bellows Component Seal with Single Parallel Spring
The RBT-11 is a rubber bellows component seal designed with a single, parallel spring and a friction-drive collar to transmit rotational motion from the shaft to the seal faces. Engineered for simplicity and reliability, it features a monolithic seal face and is supplied with a standard stationary seat.
Dimensionally equivalent to the Burgmann MG1, the RBT-11 is suitable for a wide range of light- to medium-duty sealing applications.

Typical Applications & Industry Use Cases
The RBT-11 Rubber Bellows Mechanical Seal is an internal wet seal featuring a flexible elastomeric bellows that provides spring loading without traditional coil springs. Designed for general industrial fluid services, the rubber bellows isolates dynamic components from the process fluid while accommodating minor shaft movement and misalignment. This seal is suitable for a broad range of basic sealing applications requiring cost-effective, reliable performance.
Industries Served
Water and wastewater treatment
HVAC and building services
Industrial process pumping
Agricultural and irrigation systems
General utility and fluid transfer services
Light to moderate chemical processing
Equipment & Use-Case Scenarios
- Parallel-shaft centrifugal and process pumps with internal wet sealing requirements
- Services with clean to moderately contaminated liquids
- Low to moderate pressure and temperature fluid handling
- Routine maintenance and replacement of general industrial pumps
Why It Fits These Applications
- Elastomeric bellows: Provides spring force and compensation for minor shaft movement without coil springs
- Internal wet configuration: Utilises the process fluid for face lubrication and cooling
- Simple, rugged design: Effective in standard industrial applications where elaborate support systems are not required
- Tolerance for misalignment: Bellows flexibility can accommodate slight shaft run-out without compromising performance
- Cost-effective solution: Ideal choice for services that do not demand advanced seal support
Installation Guidelines
Pre-Installation Preparation
Clean and inspect the pump shaft, seal chamber bore, and gland surfaces to remove corrosion, debris, or surface defects that may impact sealing performance and face contact.
Seal Installation
Slide the RBT-11 seal onto the shaft and position it into the seal chamber. Ensure the elastomeric bellows and sealing faces are properly oriented, and that the bellows are not twisted or compressed unevenly.
Orientation Check
Verify that the seal’s orientation aligns with the intended direction of shaft rotation and fluid flow.
System Readiness
Before startup, confirm that the seal chamber is flooded with process fluid if required by your application and that all components are seated securely.
Maintenance & Inspection Best Practices
- Routine Visual Checks: Inspect the seal area for signs of leakage, vibration, or heat variation
- Bellows Condition: During scheduled maintenance, check the elastomeric bellows for cracks, deformation, or loss of elasticity
- Seal Face Condition: Examine seal faces for wear, scoring, or build-up of deposits
- Operating Logs: Maintain records of operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, and shaft speed to assist predictive maintenance
- Spare Parts Inventory: Keep replacement bellows seals and secondary components available to minimise downtime
Service & Support Options
- Application Review: Confirm that elastomer materials and seal face combinations are suitable for your specific fluid chemistry and operating conditions
- Installation Assistance: Technical guidance can help ensure correct orientation and seating
- Preventive Maintenance Planning: Establish inspection and service intervals based on duty cycles and operating history
- Seal Upgrade Evaluation: If service demands intensify (for example, higher pressures, temperatures, or abrasive fluids), consider alternate designs or materials for improved longevity
